The Senate voted 59-40 this morning to table Senator Durbin's latest version of the DREAM Act and will instead take up the House version passed last night probably early next week. That's important for a couple of reasons (and probably good news overall). First, the bill will not need to be sent back to the House to reconcile differences between the two bills. Second, the tax bill that has given some on the fence Republicans the excuse to filibuster the DREAM Act may be dealt with by then. Finally, there is some additional time to round up a couple of...

This interesting article was posted on ILW.com
ILW.COM - immigration news: The Trials And Tribulations Of Highly Educated Immigrants (http://www.ilw.com/articles/2010,0120-donoghue.shtm)
Everyone saw this coming. It has been a steady decline in the situation in teh past 10 years.
The handwriting was on the wall for quite sometime.
They will eventually make the H1B unusable by IT firms/body shoppers.

GC is for future job, is your PERM was not suspended, you can continue with the same application.
If you're on H1-B - YES - a transfer is required to work for company A becuase you resigned and left and technically company B owns your H1-B.

AILA Leadership Has Just Posted the Following:
Take 15 minutes today and watch this very moving Frontline documentary about the devastating effect of the Postville, Iowa ICE raid on the town and on the two villages in Guatemala where the immigrants came from. http://bit.ly/GWBVu[/URL]
The Postville operation was the largest ICE raid in U.S. history and resulted in the arrest, detention, and convictions of nearly 400 undocumented workers, most of whom were poor, uneducated Guatemalan farmers.
It makes me wonder what Iowa leaders are doing to help the people of Postville, who now live in economic ruin; especially Senator Tom Harkin, who has never condemed the unjust Postville prosecutions nor visited the town since the raid, yet recommended Stephanie Rose, one of the lead Postville prosecutors, to be U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Iowa.https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/186823568153827945-87808768427206364?l=ailaleadership.blogspot.com

Hello Friends,
The situation is my GC application is ongoing, while I am presently working on EAD(based on husband's application). If I change my job, within the same company, and move from one job family to another(within IT itself), what is the impact to,
a) GC process
b) EAD
I would appreciate any advice.

I applied for my EAD and AP extension on AUG 17 2009 and my EAD was expiring on AUG 29th 2009. While my wifes EAD and AP got approved, I had an RFE as I had not sent the recent photographs so I sent that and the receipt date for that was OCT 9 2009.
I continued working and got paid, after speaking to friends I realized, getting paid on a Expired EAD is not right.
I have taken a infopass to discuss this with USCIS to get an update.
One more point I wanted to make was that my payroll company doesn't know about this and doesn't care. But if I bring it up then .they might immediately terminate my employment.
How do I fix this? Please suggest.

For what it's worth, I was a Nikon pro card carrier back in the '70's. It was a FABULOUS service. I was allowed to borrow expensive gear for free that I would never have used otherwise (e.g. radio-remote release, medical telephoto with built-in ring flash, nikonos)
And the "go the head of the line" repair service saved me more than once. While I was vacationing in California I needed some urgent repairs and was told by the local main Nikon repair shop that their backlog even for "urgent" repairs was 3 months. I flashed my pro card and it was in the repair shop by 10:00 and out by noon!
