For me it took 1.5 months. I visited the consulate to check the status. Typically you can check the status of your passport renewal from CGI mail room. They can tell you whether your passport is processed, mailed etc.
Unfortunately CGI Houston has very poor customer service. They won't answer your calls or reply to your emails.

New I 140 possible in case of appeal pending on old I 140 rejection
I'VE A QUESTION REGARDING I-140 case on appeal. The original approved PERM labor certification is in that case. In order to file new I140 Whether, I need to ask USCIS to withdraw that case and use my approved labor certification for this new I-140. But I am not sure how to accomplish that. Let me know if you have any helpful info.
thanks in advance

I applied for my EAD and AP extension on AUG 17 2009 and my EAD was expiring on AUG 29th 2009. While my wifes EAD and AP got approved, I had an RFE as I had not sent the recent photographs so I sent that and the receipt date for that was OCT 9 2009.
I continued working and got paid, after speaking to friends I realized, getting paid on a Expired EAD is not right.
I have taken a infopass to discuss this with USCIS to get an update.
One more point I wanted to make was that my payroll company doesn't know about this and doesn't care. But if I bring it up then .they might immediately terminate my employment.
How do I fix this? Please suggest.

One of the most reliable pundits when it comes to the math side of politics is the New York Times blogger Nate Silver. He actually comes from a sports background and was known as a master of sports statistics. I've been reading his five thirty-eight blog for the last couple of years and he's usually right on the mark. Nate has done some number crunching to verify claims that Latinos were undercounted in the polls and gave Democrats the margins needed to win in states where they have the largest populations. His finding? Indeed, the NCLR polling I wrote about...

Hi:
My full 6 years of H-1B expires in Jan 2010. My labor will be filed in Jan 2009. I would like to go back to school full time on F-1 in Fall 09. At that time, I would still have 5 months of H-1B time remaining plus a priority date. After I graduate, find a job on a new OPT, would it be enough time to start a new GC processing, without having to go back home for a year?
Thanks so much
Debbie

Hi,
I just filed I-485 for myself and my wife. She is currently on OPT and has an approved EAD (F-1).
I can't seems to get a definite answer on how the filing will affect her status. Here's what I know so far, pls correct me if I am wrong:
1) F-1 is non-immigrant intent. Hence, when the I-485 is submitted she is no longer on F-1 but "AOS pending" status.
2) She "can" continue to work using the EAD. I said "can" because technically she is not supposed to but this is a grey area.
3) The PROBLEM is when she decides to travel. There is high risk that the immigration officer will see that she has filed I-485 and hence her F-1/OPT is no longer valid.
4) The PROBLEM in (3) can be circummvent if she uses AP from the I-485 application.
Am I missing anything? Thanks.

The contrast of the object with the background works well, I think. It is a bit unsharp, though. But over-all I like it.

Hello all, my apologies if you find my question naiive. We got our fingerprinting appt. notice in the mail yesterday with an EAC application no. When I look that number online it says case has been transferred to Texas and notice of transfer sent. Fine. I am not anxious or anything just wondering if a receipt will be generated now at Texas or would one have been generated at Nebraska and sent to the lawyer? The reason I as is I have been holding back travel plans and wanted to start looking at flights etc. if I know the receipt is either on its way or at the lawyer's already.
Thanks!
BTW the application was sent to Nebraska on July 30 and I140 had already been approved from Nebraska earlier this year.

Having a pending EB1 I-140 does not in itself confer any status. If you filed an I-485 concurrently, then you are permitted to remain in the US pending adjudication. If you have a currently valid H-1B you may remain or renew pending adjudication.

Hi,
I am travelling to India in November 2009. My visa recently expired and I got my H1b extension until 2012. I work for a big US company of repute. Although my company has no TARP related benefits from the GOV, given the economic conditions, I am little concerned if Stamping in India for visa could be a problem? My concern is if they would deny or delay the visa approval? I have all my documents valid including employment status. My GC is under process(I-140 approved).
Additionally, what precaution should I take that enhances my chances of successful visa stamping?
Please advise.
Thanks in advance.

Hi All,
With my HTC Mozart, I can download app called 'Stocks' which basically look after stocks (nasdaq etc...).
The charts/graph looks very nice and I wonder how they do that ?
http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5169/5305059802_427180205b_z.jpg
I see 3 colors:
- first above the curve
- second the curve itself
- third below the curve
I wonder if there are free/open ressource which can help to start to draw so nice graph. Any blog or hyperlink are welcome :ch:
