There are a few hundred cases of Eb2 and 3 getting approved in my American company.
People are jumping into conclusion with a few approvals from 2004/2005, but what you are not considering is the number of people with 2001/2002 priority dates who just applied for 485 in June. There might be a lot of them (I am one of those). If there are not too many of them, it is good for everyone, but its very tough to predict.
From what I heard from my lawfirm, they expect the oct bulletin to go back to 2001 or early 2002. But with everyone filing 485, USCIS should be able to predict the number of applicants and move dates better compared to earlier when they were shooting in the dark and wasting visas.

The senator is missing it or dodging it - it clearly means one thing -we are invisible as constituents. We are being taken for a ride only because we do not speak up or go meet our lawmakers. They do not see us as ordinary constituents having the same issues as their other constituents. The whole human -angle is missing.
We have to go meet our lawmakers and explain to them our part of the story/ They need to be told and made aware that we live in their constituencies and our grievances are genuine and need to be addressed.
And although this particular bill does not affect people that are here already.. Beware!! the noose is tightening- the next on the chopping block is EB Immigrants.To answer your question: Indian companies in India or Indian politicians complaining will not do much impact. After passing this bill politicians will cosy up and say good things to rebuild relations. The real impact can happen if Indians in New York state who can vote stand up against such laws. Same goes for the Desi companies who have tried to raise the voice against USCIS memo. They lack grassroots advocacy and support. Their Indian US citizen friends are busy organizing Diwali melas and Shahrukh Khan stage shows. Immigration voice can be extremely successful if politicians see us as an immigrant lobby. Just like they see Jewish lobby or Hispanic lobby. This is why participation of IV greencard members and citizen friends is important to advocate for changes that helps the immigrant community. I this case too, IV community should not turn a blind eye to what happens around us. Just because we do not work for such companies or we already have EAD does not mean we do not see beyond the headline of this issue. We spend more time analyzing , over analyzing, predicting and tracking rather than actively understanding the politics of issues that are causing all the problems we are facing. Looking at the recent approvals looks like USCIS does the following:
1. Pick up x number of files using a random algorithm.
2. Arrange these files in a random order using the same random algorithm
followed in step 1.
3. Randomly pick any file arranged in step 2.
4. Toss a coin.
5. On odd dates if it is heads,approve the file. On even dates if it is tails
approve it.
6. If file is not approved in step 5 put it on the shelf to be picked up

Morally it is right to send money to parents, but legally it is not. As you can strive but, you wont be fair to either set of parents. Hence I believe "money" should not be sent to parents. Your parents should have planned their own future, including humanitarian needs. Only if your other half agrees, then only you should send money. Otherwise, it is your and your spouse's money

Please step up to the plate. Only five shots to be fired. Only a few precious hours left before I start my travel to DC and I don't mind talking to myself. You are most welcome to interject me with a post stating your contribution.
In my posts so far, I have tried to maintain a distinction between donation and contribution. In my dictionary these are two separate words. If you go thru my earlier posts, I had never requested for donations, every time I used the word contribution.
For me the only big difference is; donations are made because you heart told you to part with a small fortune because the cause was moving or the subject was close to your heart earlier (but it does not affect you now). Successful outcome is not probably important to you. (For example donating to American Cancer Society). You do not stay back to make sure the cause was actually fulfilled, you would like to, but other events in your life draw you away. Contributions on the other hand are part help and part self help. You believe in the cause and you stay back to make sure the outcome is moving in the right direction, and if it doesn’t, you tend to loose, not only your contribution but your passion too,which is valued so much more than your monetarycontribtion, and if the cause is getting lost you try to bring it back on the tracks someway, somehow.

A freind of mine called. He did NOT hear such thing from NSC. He even refefrenced this discussion
I have talked to a representative and he very patiently explained me about the mess.
He clearly and very clearly told me that they have a deadline to send all receipts for June end and July 2nd filers by friday (tomorrow) or worst case monday.
He mentioned that they are working hard to meet this deadline.
Hope this clears the anxiety.

Instead of hiring a full time lobbyist why dont we hire a full time manager who will contact IV members and drive funding drives , organize campaigns , send and spam USCIS with emails flowers and faxes and keep it moving. I read through all of your posts.
One question I am not clear is:
I am on H1-B. I don't intend to change my status.
I start my LLC & work part time in the LLC on EAD. Is this possible ?
I am not sure if H1 gets invalidated by doing this. If so, the only alternative I found is hire others to do it or open a partnership LLC.
Am I correct ?

Many H1s like me have their non-working spouses on H4 visa who are not given SSNs. Do we not pay taxes ? Do we not pay Social security ? We do, and therefore we should also be eligible for the Stimulus package. Indeed my son is autistic and disabled but we are not eligible for any kind of aid but we pay tons of taxes and social security. It is highly non-justified think. I know people will argue a lot if it is compared to slavery. But it is a "modern form of slavery". Yes, we are in this country with our own will but that is what they are making use of.
Please blame the illegals who use ITIN 1)to file taxes 2) to show that they were present in US.
They use this as a legal document and their best bet if amnesty is provided.

for some it is money, for others it is about taking care of parents etc.
for me it is all about where I would like to live, grow and bring up my child. to me the answer is very clear. while this country is not perfect, no country on this planet is. if a human makes an objective list based on quantifiable pros and cons, the decision is very easy to make.
as for stuff like "I miss my parents" that is not quantifiable and should never figure in the discussion. what is the guarantee that you can return to your home country and live in the same city as you parents do? what happens if your kids don't want the grandparents to interfere in their lives? what happens if you cannot take constant interference from friends and extended family?
my reasons may come across as cold and calculating. however, it is an inhospitable world we live in and it is up to us to provide the best possible cocoon for our immediate family and that is exactly what I intend to do.

am waiting for a GC here in America, I always think India is a fabulous
country. There are merits, de merits in every country. But it is people like you who always look at the negative side (according to you that is ) of India and think US has absolutely no negatives that create the wrong perception about India in peoples minds.
Your negativity stems from your low self esteem and lack of self confidence.
Blame your country/system for everything and try to find an escape elsewhere. If you are capable chances are you will succeed any where (Including in India) like many people have.....

2.God forbid,if you ever get into an accident the cop would at least write down a complaint.If there is an emergency there would be an ambulance.My father had to go through this unfortunate experience.
3.In India, given the real estate boom , anyone who has land in cities like Mumbai /Pune would rather build a mall or residential complex instead of Schools/Colleges.People are getting jobs now. Have they wondered where their kids will go to school/college? When it comes to getting jobs in India, everyone wants a candidate from a reputed college / university which is usually associated with the number of years the place has been around.
4.If you want to settle outside cities, then you do not have access to the best in education and whatever so called infrastructure is there to offer.
5.Back home, if your kid does not grow up to become a Doctor or Engineer he/she goes so much down in the social hierarchy that it is difficult to imagine.Only careers available are Doctors/Engineers.Last option is to join call center and live a nocturnal life.

Please don't think as if the IV guys walk in and talk and there you go.... the change is in effect.
It takes a lot to get the fixes like these.
Moreover , do not donate with the "IF" condition. Just donate and trust IV , everyone is working as hard ,to get the relief in any way possible for the guys in the line.

Thanks to the glorious service of the Atlanta center :mad: I missed the I-485 bus by 7 days( Labor cleared on Aug end ). Many people with later PD's got cleared from the Chicago PERM center . Now I just watch as all members get their EAD's and AP's while I wait with nothing but hope and watch legislation after legislation fail in the senate and house , and the letters flying all over the place .
