I fully support this donor forum. there should be some incentive for members who donate. they are not doing it because they have lots of money to spare, but they sacrifice because they believe in this cause. I don't think $25 is going to break anyone's bank. Just sacrifice something that you consume/enjoy every week, and donate that.

Yes. I agree. We had to do this because we saw that even after running a drive for FOIA that helps every member we could not reach the goal yet. This data will be sought by all of us but if we are not ready to support the effort, it will be tough to invest in it. The subscriptions will help us continue IV initiatives with more zeal and we will know that a lot of members support us.

It is easy and potentially justifiable to feel some frustration. As it relates to the green card, I am in a similar situation to most who visit and share their views on this board.
I view the Universe and everything that is contained therein to be perfect - there can be no imperfections. I find comfort in that thought and focus my attention on the following:

Did you have unexpired H1B / I-94? In my case I am on EAD / pending I-485 / AOS (expired H1 / I-94) & BOA didn't approve.
Do you know any one who didn't have H1B / I-94 but got loan from BOA based on AOS?
yes, i had an unexpired h1b/i-94. yes, i do have friends who were not on h1b/i-94 and still got approved from boa. for some reason, i believe, its pretty much the agent who handles your case decides on these issues. i remem' for one or two things which are supposed to be important, my agent asked me not to worry about and i dont think i gave him a copy of my h1b visa either.

Hey you are mentioning that you are in EB3 India with a Priority date of AUG 2004. When did you file for the I-485. To my knowledge it was never until this July Fiasco. Can you please explain.

Landed July 1997.
Couple of contracting jobs with a desi bodyshopper(read it as a blood sucker). Believed him for almost 4 years of false promises that they will do GC processing. Finally quit the company and joined a major HMO company. Started the GC paper work in early Jan 2002. Due to the attorney screw ups, and wrong documentation, filed the labor in EB3 (did not even know that upto almost 2 years after filing, was thinking it was filed in EB2) in Jan 2003. Yes, it took 1 year for attorney's screw ups to be rectified. In that company, we were not allowed to talk directly to the lawyer and had to go thru the employer. So to get a simple answer would take 10-15 days. Wish IV was there then. Waited in Labor Processing for 4+years. 140 approved in early 2007. Filed 485 in july fiasco and got EAD, from then changed 2 jobs (got that freedom atleast). Per my own estimate, I should be receiving my GC sometimes in 2015. Current employer will not do GC processing , so no chance of filing for Eb2. I dont want to change employers even if it costs my GC, because, I am enjoying the work that I am doing. And in my opinion thats important because, I would rather be in a job that I enjoy more without GC than being in a job that I do not like with GC. So, 13 years and still going. Completed PMP, MBA meanwhile. Thats my story.

many people rightly feel they could do give back much more to this country if they had their freedom. sorry if you're not one of them. after you get your gc you might just vegetate for the rest of your life with the material comforts you've gathered.

the biggest irony of course is that what actually defines america is in in fact ... immigration! a breaking away from the mold of artificial bureaucratic limitations of the old world.
but as they say - be careful what you wish for - that may be exactly what you get.
to the original poster: your question is unnecessarily posed in the negative. a better question would be, what does American gain from recent immigration ? a hint. the answer is not mortgages or uscis receipt fees.

I know the number of applicants will be high. My guess is around 200k for EAD applications. Remember, some people (like me) will have BEC case & PERM case. So there is a chance for double count.

You are turning the basic premise upside down. H1B transfer becomes a reality.
Rather, you should ask, employee-petitioned H1 transfer in adition to Employer-petitioned H1 transfer. What say you?
Ans 1) Fairness...H1-B transfer becomes a reality...One can look for better Job oppurtunities...otherwise why even allow H1-B transfer when there are hidden GC related problems.
